BACK!!!

Issues with the app I had been using to post directly from my phone, combined with the school year, led to a much longer break from here than I intended!  But I'm finally back!!  So many amazing things happened this past year --including marrying my best friend!!!!!  My plan is to slowly update with highlights, while trying to post more often.

First up, we're leaving for our Italian honeymoon this Monday!!  I am so incredibly excited!  I haven't been back since my year abroad in Venice, 2000-2001.  We'll be visiting Rome, Venice and Cinque Terre!! We've been able to book some incredible places to stay using airbnb, including this entire three floor tower in Rome!  I love that website.  It allows you to find such great spots and deals.  I'm very much looking forward to staying in places with kitchens so that we can get our booties to the Italian market and cook some delicious meals.

Wedding shoes arrived!

Ammendment:  After the dress fitting, my seamstress convinced me I needed something a little more fancy for the big day!  With the help of a gift card from my sweet, sweet mother-in-law, the new shoes were these!!  I was super happy with them.  I had originally wanted a peep toe, was grateful for the height they lent me, and felt very glamourous--which is how a lady should feel on her wedding day, yes?!

(The first pair have become a favorite for work and daily outings!)

Horror movies & save the dates!

Sunday, October 23, 2011

We went to Aberdeen & Horacio's for a pumpkin carving party and screening of bad horror movies (!). First up was Troll 2. No joke, that movie is amazingly bad! EK and I were joking about how confused we were from one scene to the next. The ear of corn turning into popcorn to stand in for sexy time was incredible.

I need to drag my coworkers with me to see the third Paranormal Activity movie. I was on a horror movie hiatus for a few years, but I'm coming back!

And this is something exciting: Eric & I finished the design for our save the dates today!! I came up with the idea and he executed. Now we just need to get some blank brown parchment postcards and hire someone to screen print the design in white ink. Hopefully we can afford to do so--otherwise, we'll be emailing these babies out. :D

Stretching summer

Saturday, October 1, 2011

It's only 80 degrees; fall has arrived in Austin! Seriously though, the weather today was absolute perfection. We had the windows open and no a/c for the first time in months.

MONTHS.

I love me some warm and even hothothot weather, but this was a welcome change. Knowing it will cool down soon though, I took this as the last opportunity of the season to wear this watermelon-ee dress to a friend's party.

Chelsea picked it out for me while Erin and I were visiting her in Point Loma and I love it. I hadn't seen the brand since living in Venice. When we found it a day or two before I was to be reunited with my Italy ladies, I took it as a good sign. It's pretty tight, but makes me feel early to mid nineties--in a good way--if there is such a thing!

The Arcade Fire

Saturday, September 17, 2011

It finally rained today in Austin! The weather was just perfect tonight. And to top it all off, our friend had extra tickets to the Austin City Limits taping of The Arcade Fire show!! It was my first time at an ACL taping and the sound was great at the new location/stage inside the W Hotel, downtown. EK and had Moscow mules, our new to us favorite drink, at the W before hand. It was wonderful to see live music--it had been so long since we'd been to a show! The band had loads of energy and I didn't know there were so many members. Oh goodness, good musics make my heart swell. Thanks so much to our friend Jack who thought of us for the tickets!

It was extra nice to get a little dressed up and have a change from either being at work til late or watching Mad Men in pjs at home!
